The world is growing at a very fast rate, there is hardly a single item left in the world that does not use technological advancements. A few examples of this are when you are going to buy an item of clothing, you walk into a basic shop and they now have cameras, tills and alarms that they are totally dependent on. So without the technology, I believe these shops would actually seize to exist. Another use are the up and coming restaurants, they now offer digital grills, fryers and drinks machines to eliminate the risk of burning food or over flowing drinks. So putting this all into account I believe that when you are next washing your clothes, you must make a serious decision on how you think the next makes and models of washing equipment are going to be like and start getting your head around it. I have already seen a few articles, about a new environmentally friendly washing machine that is due for release in 2009, which instead of using water uses chips. So where does this leave the tumble dryers will they become a redundant piece of equipment stored in someones attic? There is no doubt in my mind that washing machines are a truly remarkable, yet essential piece of equipment to have around, washing machines are great for washing short loads of clothes in quick time. Gone are the days where people had to manually scrub there clothes in the sink and then squeeze all of the excess water away. Saying all of this though it does beg a question of whether or not the new machines that are to be released will actually be beneficial to our clothes. I state this because there is so much hype around about a waterless washing machine, that people are actually forgetting to ask the question can they clean the same as a traditional machine? I say no, because basically something needs water to be cleaned although they say they will use sort of chips to bang out the stains they are forgetting about the smell. Its just like saying to somebody to have a shower without water and just scrub themselves with a flannel, after a couple of weeks you will see how people will begin to smell. So to sum it up I believe we will have to change the way we wash in the next decade, but I dont think it should be without water. Water is a natural resource and should not be eliminated.
