The GPS industry took off like a high speed jet a few years ago and the GPS Magellan company has remained a leader in direct to consumer portable navigation devices. While GPS Magellan can seem like an easy choice, it is actually much more difficult then you may think to choose a GPS navigation device. Most receivers on a GPS use the same processing chip and most of them only use on of two different suppliers of map data. So, in theory, you would think that there would be very little to choose between from unit to unit, but you would be very mistaken.

There are so many differences as to how the data is presented and how you use the navigation device when you want to set destinations and any other detailed information along the way. In addition to this, the prices vary so much and you will find the cheap ones are not always the bad ones. The worst navigation devices are very complicated and have an interface that is so difficult to understand that you will find the product useless. The really good products are very easy to use and understand, which comes in very handy if you are in the car or on the move and do not have a ton of time to look down at it.

According to studies, the number of different brand and models of GPS navigation devices is expanding at a rate that it faster then any year previous. This has resulted in lower prices, better features being offered, and much smaller units that are more convenient and easy to travel with. This has allowed companies to offer the same great functions to the user, but in a much more portable form. There are so many things that you want to think about when shopping around for any type of GPS and arguably the most important thing is the model.

Everyone is concerned with the price when purchasing anything so it makes sense that you want to get the best deal possible. With that said, it is very important to be sure that you are accurately comparing the same model with the same model when you are checking prices. It is easy to see a cheaper price and at first glance think that it is the same product, but be sure to take a closer look to double check. That said, choosing a GPS unit is a very exciting thing and is something that you will thank yourself for doing for years to come.
